Pop culutue

I came across a term I was unfamiliar with on a friend's Facebook post the other day.  It was FML.  A quick google search led me to the definition of the acronym and to a website where people can post little anecdotes about their little skirmishes with life.  I have to admit, I looked at this website for about 15 minutes, just kind of scrolling through the posts, but only once.  My conclusion; how sad.

I know it's all supposed to be tongue-in-cheek but I think there's an underlying issue and I really have some sorrow that a) there's a website for this, and b) it's popular.  Some of the posts are just trivial; some not so much.  The reason I felt sorrow is that I just thought there are better places to post these things.  I'm a Facebook fan of a couple of pages that ask for people to post their prayer requests and people can pray for those that post these requests.  I wonder, if more people did this instead of posting FML, how many of these negative things in life could turn out with this result:  PTL (Praise the Lord!)

I'm a child of the '80s and I know that for us who remember, these three letters conjure up images of Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker and the many scandals from their lives.  That's not what I'm talking about.

Think though what a great world we'd live in if we just gave the trivial and the not-so-trivial problems we have to the Lord and looked to Him for guidance, comfort, and peace.  It's been a blessing to me.

Think about this, my friends, and how easy it would be to say FML; to rebel, to do the easy things, to put selfish wants first, or adopt the worldly view of my life.  Yet I don't.  I say PTL loudly and proudly and follow where Jesus leads me.

My life gets better every day.  Is it perfect?  By no means.  I'm just getting better at following and trusting in the Lord.  That makes life not only easier, but worth living!
