Do the work, it'll be worth it...
Today's little blog post is gonna take some effort on your part to follow up on some of what I'm going to talk about if you so choose. One of the things I decided to give up was my high-speed internet connection until I'm in a better financial position to afford it. When coffee is $11 for less than a 3 pound can, something has to go and the internet connection is the latest casualty of my economic reality.
I use my cell phone as a modem, but the data transfer rate is less than a 28K modem. If you thought dial up was slow, you ought to try the frustration of this little process. Loading basic pages like the blog is fine, but slow. Loading interactive content or opening two windows at once just isn't going to happen which is why you don't see hyperlinks to things like Bible verses any more. There's the explanation. Here's the story.
I woke up in a pretty good mood. I told Miss June that today I felt like I'd have some answers, whatever they would be. I certainly wasn't expecting what I got, which weren't answers, per se, but more of an explanation of things. Explanations have been a big part of my life this past week or so; or maybe it's just they were already there and I'm just more in tune to receiving them and applying them to my circumstances. I don't know and I'm not very good at explaining the "how" I know they apply to some of the craziness in my life. I just "know", you know?
Today's explanation came as a radio program called "Love Worth Finding". This program is heard on many different radio stations and sometimes BBN radio plays them out of sync with some web content providers. I need to tell you this because I think it'd be worth hearing if you're interested in the subject of temptations. BBN radio streams content, and I'd invite you to listen to the program for yourself from their website (bbnradio.org) or tune in I think at 6:30 pm (99.5fm in the area)and listen to this important program.
The program is based on the book of James in the Bible. It's worth a read because the book opens with talk of testing and perseverance. Pay particular attention to James 1:12-16. The sermon on the radio lays out a pretty good description of the passages and how they apply to our own lives today. This is a two-part sermon, with the second part coming tomorrow. I'm interested in hearing part two because the analogy the pastor uses so parallels things happening to people I know. Not so much to me, but to those I know or know of.
I want to encourage you to have a listen to the program and to read the scripture verses. I think it'll make an impression on you of where our society is and just how out-of-step we've become with God's word.
