It tingles

Dumb stuff happens to me.  That's not a news flash to anyone but this latest little malady takes the cake.

Apparently I did something to the nerves in my left chest that is making my fingers tingle like my hand is going to sleep.  It's been coming and going for a while but last night I aggravated it pushing a piece of foam into a fuel tank.  It started with the two smaller fingers but spread to my thumb and the finger next to it.  The finger that lets folks know they're number one strangely is not tinging.  I haven't done that in quite some time but apparently some Facebook fan let me know on Monday that he disliked my driving with a thumbs down.  You know, that was a much greater way to tell me I was driving with my head not on the road.  I felt bad, not angry because he didn't tell me I was #1.

The thumbs down was priceless.  Non threatening, not anger provoking.  Just what was called for in the situation.

I had my head someplace else instead of driving.  I don't usually do that.  I admit I'm not the best driver, my friends can tell you I only know two speeds.  Stop and Go.  I'm jerky.  Sometimes I don't signal.  I am a Utahn, so y'all should cut me some slack.

Oh, sorry about that detour.  Apparently I type like I drive.  I was going someplace.  Oh, yeah, I remember now.

I'm a random Bible reader.  Sometimes I'm surprised by what I read, like I was the other day.  Sometimes I'm motivated.  I always get something out of it though, because one of the ways God talks to us is through His word.  I sometimes find something just for the day.  Sometimes it's just a reinforcement of something I need to hear.  Sometimes I just open to where the Psalms are and praise God for His mercy, His grace, His love.

Do you read the Bible?  Do you read it every day if you do?  If not, you should.  It's amazing what you can find there.  Did you know that co-signing for a loan is talked about in the Bible?  I didn't know that until I read it.  Did you know that it tells you pretty much everything you need to live a good life?  Did you know that it tells you how to raise your kids?  Read the book of Proverbs.  It contains a lot of advice that if I'd have absorbed in my younger years would have kept me from pretty much every foolish decision I've ever made.

There's even and explanation or two of the things going on in my life.  The book itself is timeless because it's the Word of God.  If you've never read it, why not?  Because you're not a believer?  You don't go in for that religious stuff?  I was that, had the same excuses, pretty much told that to my pastor the first time we met.  I can tell you that a read through the book of Ezekiel will show you that the world, for all our technology, really hasn't changed all that much.  Maybe you could draw some parallels from ancient times to what is happening in our country today.  I read a passage in that book that really shocked me because it's as true today as the day it was written.  So is the book of Proverbs.  A fool is still a fool for the same reasons as he was thousands of years ago.  And the things that make a wise man wise remain unchanged.

Trust me, I was one!

You might even find a comforting thought, a passage that convicts you of something you're doing wrong or just the right words of praise to God.  Sometimes, you'll find just the right words to convey to the Heavenly Father a sorrow for a committed sin.  Psalm 51 talks about the way I feel about something I did in the past that regret is too small a word to describe.

Through a combination of reading God's Word and random(?) circumstances this week I have some answers to questions I didn't even know I was asking.  I don't question the Lord's wisdom.  I just can tell you that sometimes things happen for a reason.  A leads to B which leads to C.  What happened to me through some weird things made my faith and trust in the Lord grow even deeper than they were.  I've been trying to obey God's word even though I don't understand all the time.  Even when it's hard to trust what you don't understand.  Every now and again God shows me something that makes me know his Word, His promises to us are trustworthy.

My hand tingles.  It won't shortly.  But I know how God used this little episode in my life to build my trust in Him, in His word, His promises!  They are true and it's my hope for you, dear readers, that you come to saving faith in Jesus Christ.  He is the Son of God, who died on the cross for our sins.  On the third day He was resurrected from the dead, with the promise that He will come again!  That's the Good News.  The price for sin has been paid by One without sin.  You've seen the signs in the stands at football games.  John 3:16 says it all.

I have an awesome idea for a blog for tomorrow.  I'm gonna ask you why you don't go to church.

May God bless you and thanks for reading the blog!
