Hi, readers!
This is gonna be long and of course I have to tell two stories to tell the real story.
My pastor shared something on Facebook regarding a sermon he was working on and asked if it was random or coincidence that he should find that video clip. I threw in my two pennies worth and said I don't believe in random or coincidence. This is important to remember because it's gonna be huge. That's the first story.
The second story is this: I was working on a blog entry for the other day; one that won't ever see the light of day for two reasons. The first, and primary reason is that it was kind of mean spirited. The second, lesser reason is that a lot of my friends don't think I'm playing with all the cards in the deck these days and as I read the post, it could have been taken the wrong way. The subject was a tongue-in-cheek look at what would happen if my ticket was punched and I didn't want anyone to think I was looking at using the self-checkout option.
Anyway, in the post, I said some kind things about the first Mrs. Cooper. Out of the three, she's the one that truly accepted my apology for the things I'd done and more importantly the awful things I'd said to her over the years. I was thinking the other day that out of the three, she's the one that had given me the least grief and the one up until about a year ago, I had the most anger toward. I really felt bad about that because I think it's a big part of why my oldest and I aren't close. Shellie genuinely accepted my apology and I felt pretty good about that. That was written yesterday.
The random, coincidence comment was this morning.
And then I got a phone call.
Up until now the list of people that actually see God working in my life have been few. Tami Jo saw it first hand, and then saw God do some pretty amazing things in her life recently. The immigrant has seen it happen time and time again. My mom and sis are skeptics. My sis, especially. So was a very good friend of mine, I think, until today.
My friend was in a place he hadn't planned on being. He had no reason to be there except to kill some time. He was just at a store, looking around, waiting for his son to finish up something. And that's when it happened: he ran into my oldest son.
We talked about it for a few minutes today on the phone and I'm hoping this encounter will be the thing to melt the ice. My son works at the store. I'm so very proud of him that he has a job!
My somewhat skeptical friend used my own words to describe his encounter. Words like, random, coincidence, being where you really have no reason to be, etc... You just never know how God answers prayers; you never know when or how He may use YOU to answer someone else's prayer. He's always at work, guys and gals. It's my sincere prayer for my friend that he'll see what happened and that God is. Maybe there's something to this after all and it's not just talk...
I could never find all the right words to bring glory to God, but today is a day for praise and to glorify the Heavenly Father. He IS God of the impossible! He works in our lives. My friend had an encounter with more than just my son. He had an encounter with God! I hope and pray it's not the last.
It's also my sincere hope that you, dear reader, take some time to think about this story, and at least one or two of you to think long and hard about the random(?) stories I've shared in the past. I haven't shared them lately but they do still happen and they're pretty much still focused on the same subject. It's just gonna take time.
Faith is a wonderful thing. It's believing in something you know is real, even though you've never seen it. When faith leads to wonderful, God sized things in your life, when you actually see the Creator of the Universe, our eternal Heavenly Father at work in your life and in the lives of others, it's just a pure joy to behold.
Church today. We start at ten. I can't wait to hear the sermon! I'm thinking it's just what the Lord wants our congregation to hear. Come hear it with us!
