The "odd couple"

I have a houseguest.  Not the houseguest(s) I was hoping for but I'm happy he's here.  I kind of missed the cantankerous, grumpy thing.

Ba is back.

Simba is a pussycat.  Simba really never liked me that much (until the last time I saw him in Ohio).  His dislike for me was so severe that one night at Wendi's, he tried to poop in my shoe.  I'm not kidding, he hunched up, backed up, and aimed (and missed) for my shoe.

Not everybody is happy to see Ba.  Katie wasn't thrilled.  Neither was Simba.  He still hates the dog.  Old as he his, he tried to smack her.  I guess he still thinks he owns the joint.

Me and Ba have that love/hate thing going on.  I didn't ever really care for Ba that much.  I used to like to pet him because he hated it.  I was just trying to be nice, of course, but Wendi used to get mad at me because I was antagonizing her pussycat.  Me and Snot, we had big fun.  Me and Ba, well, we put up with each other.

Ba used to walk around here like he owned the joint.  That cat never thought he was a cat.  He acted like he was royalty.  He was often treated as such.  Oh the stories I could tell about Wendi and Simba... but not today.

Ba is older now, and so am I.  I can't fuss with him like I used to. Those days are gone, sadly.  Now it's more about making sure he's comfortable.  I put him down for a few minutes so he could kind of get used to where he's at.  He doesn't see so well anymore, but I'm sure the place is familiar to him and hopefully he'll be comfortable and happy here.

Having Ba home is a really good thing.  It brings back memories and even though it's just until the wife gets settled, just for a moment, at a time when I really needed it, it's like having a very small piece of my life back.

And, it reminds me that God is the God of the impossible and that He has a sense of humor, all at the same time.  Out of everything that could have happened, we got Ba.  You gotta laugh at the irony in that!  And I wouldn't have it any other way....
