Hot water

Hot water...  No, for once I'm not in any, if you'll pardon the expression, trouble.  Hot water is my new friend.  It makes coffee for me in the morning.  It makes things hurt a lot less while I'm sitting in the bathtub enjoying the hot water.  Anymore, I'm so stiff in the morning, a hot bath has become part of my ritual.  I think of all the money I wasted over the years and am kicking myself...I never bought a hot tub.  Wanted one, but never bought one.  Probably just as well, now, but boy, could I sure use a visit to one.

I have this little thingie that's supposed to turn your tub into a whirlpool.  It works OK.  I haven't used it in a very long time, though.  Maybe I'll give that a try tomorrow while I'm trying to get the joints to quit throbbing.  This getting older business...well, let's just say I'm not a fan.

I like the getting wiser.  Just not the creaks and groans.  They make pills for that, I know, but I'm not a big pill guy.  I have a hard time remembering to take the cholesterol pill every day.  My Dr. has had me on Vitamin D supplements for the last year, but I keep forgetting to schedule the blood tests to check it after I'm done with them.  I keep forgetting to take said Vitamin D supplement each week, too.  I'm bad with pills because they're just not a part of my routine, but I guess they need to be.

Hot water is good for other things besides aches and coffee.  A nice cup of tea starts with hot water, and I hear from some very good friends that Norah Jones records go good with tea.  Hot water is also the base ingredient for the best remedy I've ever found for a cold.  Hot water, a spoonful of honey, a spoonful of sugar, a little bit of lemon juice and a shot of good bourbon or whiskey and you've got a hot toddy.

Hot water!  It's all I've got for today and that's a great thing.

  1. Losing everything is at the same time the scariest, as well as the most liberating experience you can have. When you have something, ~anything~ you've got to protect it from disappearing. And so worry becomes a resident in your heart. When you've got nothing, your heart overflows with gratitude for every offering you receive.

  2. I will say I have to agree with anonymous. When you have nothing, anything is something. We all in this world need to find things to be greatful for. No matter how little it may seem, it becomes something bigger if you look for the positive. Make a list every day of something to be thankful for no matter the size. The negative things in life will not seen so over whelming. Keep your positive attitude Dale.

  3. Dear anonymous: Thanks for the comment. It's going to be the topic of tomorrow's blog. I'm going to talk about what I lost and why I don't miss most of it.
