Stuff! Seriously, Just STUFF

There are a lot of things going on in my life these days, most of them good.  A lot of them I can't, well, won't talk about on the blog which doesn't make it as fun to read as it used to be.  I know that.  You keep tuning in for answers, but I keep giving you things you don't want to read about.  OK, but I can't share with you what I don't know myself, so I have to tell you about how we're all going to get the answers we need.

There are a lot of things that have my attention.  I'm proud to see peaceful dissent going on in Wisconsin.  Good for you guys.  This divisive politics of my way or the highway has got to stop.  Our politics never used to be "take no prisoners"; there was always room for compromise.  I'm waiting for the Republicans collectively to hold their breath so long they turn blue and pass out.  If you had money and a talent for public speaking, you could easily start a successful 3rd party in this country right now.

Keith Olbermann has, on his new web page, a pretty good analogy of the Republicans right now.  I can't wait to see what's going to happen in 2012 but if I ran the circus that the next Presidential campaign will be I'm telling you, I think you, in the climate that I see coming, you could get a Democrat elected in Utah.  It's going to get worse because the Republicans aren't even trying to hide what they're trying to do.  I'm waiting for our state to go after the UEA.  They will, just watch.

Baseball starts in earnest in just a little under a month.  A new season, a new hope, that will most likely end up like this:  Overpaid starters who disappoint.  One or two standouts, just enough hope but that's all, and a few superstar names on the downhill side of great careers that don't put up offense like they used to, with so-so middle relievers, a good but injury-prone closer, and the various clubhouse dramas that seem to go with it, and it's another season of Dodger baseball.  I forgot about finishing third in what has to be the weakest division in Major League Baseball.  To top it off, our manager this year is former Yankee standout Don Mattingly.

Go Blue!?

I'm telling you, if they'd get rid of the DH rule, I'd be an Angels fan in a minute.

Church was good today.  It was a very timely topic and my pastor and I shared a laugh after the service.  One thing I do know:  I go to the right church for me.

I watched an old movie tonight called Johnny Apollo.  I enjoyed it.  I can't remember the last time I actually had time to sit and watch a movie.  I saw a program after that called "Coming Home", which is about our service members reuniting with their families after long deployments.  It's very touching and it made me remember the few times I was separated from my family.  Nowhere near the number of months the typical service member is these days, and I'm so grateful for that.  It was a very good program and you should check it out.  It's on Lifetime.  I was told about it, Lifetime is not on my favorite channels list (ESPN, MSNBC, and TCM are though) so I can still KEEP my man card, thank you.

I did my own laundry again this week.  The immigrant was ill and I keep griping at her to leave it for me.  She did.  I have one load of socks to wash tomorrow and that's it.  I cleaned out the car today, too.  It also was a bit messy.  Not anymore, though.  Now it's just semi-messy and if you have tips on how to get dog fur off your car seats, I'd love to hear them.  Apparently the vacuum at the car wash, well it sucked because it didn't, if you follow me.

Well, y'all, I'm happy to report that what you read is all there is.  Maybe sometime later on in the week I'll have a personal update on my life.  There is so much of it that is just completely out of my hands right now.  But, like you, I have a fresh bowl of popcorn and I'm waiting to see how the movie ends.  I've given up trying to direct it.

Boring blog?  Why thank you!  It's nice to just have a day that's not filled with dramas.  I'm hoping and praying for that feeling to continue throughout the week.
