Thank the Lord for the mechanical age

I'm done for a bit.  I'd say I'm done for the day and for the most part, I am.  I have to go on dog poop patrol, clean up the leaves off my lawn that used to be at the bottom of my swimming pool and put the shop vac and pressure washer away.  Those items cane in handy when I drained the pool earlier this week.  Out with the alge-filled water with the nine zillion leaves and one roof shingle; in with just over five thousand gallons of nice, pure, clean water.

I'm happy to have the pool.  It's going to be a long, hot summer.

I've already had to clean out the pool once.  It's like a dirt magnet.  And, no, before you ask, I'm not gonna do the "pool boy" dance.  Ain't nobody wanna see that!

Not even me.

I'm so thankful for several things today:  My tractor and its little gadgets would be high on that list.  So would my truck, which is about half-full with yard debris from the back 40.  I raked it today and picked up the piles that were where I wanted to till.  Before I did, I ran the tractor with the harrow attachment over it to break up the ground so the tiller would go through it easily.  That worked really well and, with any luck, I'll have the entire thing tilled up tomorrow before I go to work.

A tiller is also a gadget I'm thankful for.  Miss June gave me an assignment and it's now done, thanks to this marvelous device.  I'm going to have to rake out pretty much everything I tilled today but that's all right.  If the stuff comes back, then when June's not looking, I'm going to be going through a lot of roundup this summer.  Whether or not I get done depends on if I have to go to the nursery with June tomorrow.

But I doubt if I'd be as far as I am without each of these little gadgets.  I'm thankful I didn't need a horse or have to do it with a shovel, a rake, and a hoe.  We really are lucky we have these little items available, you know it?  The jobs just get made so much easier.

Speaking of jobs made easy, I'm off to make a loaf of rosemary bread for our dinner tonight.  We're having dutch oven ribs (the Smith's had discount boneless beef ribs today!), salad, baked potato, and homemade baked beans.  (I really do have a bean pot!)

Thanks and glory to God for an easy day.  I'm asking Him to bless the back 40 this year with a bountiful harvest.  We're planting for an abundance of produce for our little family and enough to share with those in need.

Hope you have a blessed day, too!
