Abandonment issues

The wondermutt has abandonment issues.

I was gonna take him bye-bye to the store.  The dogs needed grub and I thought I hadn't walked him for a while so I'd take him for a ride.  As soon as I snapped the leash on him, the beaglemutt was right there, about jumping out of her fur to go too.  She'll get in the car without trying to 'r-u-n-n-o-f-t' (gotta love you some O' Brother, Where Art Thou?).

As we were piling into the car, there was this look of panic on Bucket's face.  I could see it in his eyes.  Katie was about half-way down the driveway and Bucket was getting in first.  He didn't want to go.

Bucket was a rescue mutt I adopted from Petsmart.  Something told me I had to take him home with me.  At the time, I didn't know what it was.  It was so strong a feeling that I turned around and went back and got him.  I think the Mrs. thought I was nuts but she let me spend our last $136 to adopt him.  I wouldn't find out why unit a long time later (read the post from September 2010 titled My Dog Max).

Anyway, just over a month later, I'd load up Bucket in the truck and take him to Indiana.  I always knew he'd come home, though.  I just never knew when.  A year later, and he was home.  But he's still skittish of riding in the car.  I think every time he gets into the car, he thinks he's gonna get abandoned.

The doggie rescue folks told us they found Buck wandering around out by Smith & Edwards years ago now and I wonder if, given the rural nature of that area, if he didn't get taken for the one-way ride.  He's so funny, he has to be right where everyone is at.  If doors aren't shut tight, he'll just push them open, with the exception of running water in the bathtub.  Apparently Bucky hates baths, too.

Right now, he's snoring on the bed.  So is Katie.  They've been outside today and apparently they're all worn out! The minute I move, though, Buck will follow me.  The beagle follows him, and we're just one big happy family.

Oh, by the way, I have some really good random(?) stories for later this weekend.  Right now, I'm working on deciphering how I should tell them because they didn't happen to me.  It's funny how one person views things one way, another person another way.

Key to the story is that I own two dogs.  One is named Katie, or Kate for short; the other is named Bucket (rescue guy said he acted like he carried his brains around in a bucket and it just kind of stuck), or Buck for short.

And I'm going to tell you these stories to point out to you that God works in everyone's lives, but sometimes either we miss it, or choose to ignore it.

Have a blessed day!
